After feeling a void of quality, engaging and honest video content in arts & culture, James Marshall (our founder), set out to make the industry accessible through his years of video production experience. Without a formal background but instead a deep love for arts and culture, James created The Inventive to communicate creative concepts and reach mainstream audiences. In the last year alone, The Inventive has been responsible for bringing 10m+ views and interactions across clients.

Today The Inventive works with a range of people across the creative industries, working closely via contractual or commissioning relationships. Whether it be a series for an event, a 30-day launch campaign or a BTS of an acclaimed project - we work across all short and long-form video platforms. We create and develop TikTok accounts, produce short documentaries, travel with touring shows and exhibitions - but we like to take on as many varied creative concepts as possible, keeping us on our toes and allowing us to stay inventive.

Our founder James Marshall has a diverse experience across the creative industries; having marketed an array of museums and galleries, consulted artist networks and estates, as well as assisting in developing creative businesses. In addition to The Inventive, James is an arts curator and writer.
